THE BRIT AWARDS
PRODUCTION DESIGN FOR A LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS SHOW
PROJECT SYNOPSIS
The brief for this project was to design a concept for a light entertainment awards show, like The BRIT Awards.
My design was inspired by the Gardens of Bomarzo, a monumental complex designed by Pirro Ligorio in Lazio, Italy
I fell in love with the overgrown statues and weathered stone in the gardens and thought the juxtaposition of the organic feel of the garden with the polished high end aspects of an award show was an interesting concept.
MOODBOARD
To create the statues, I used a combination of 3D printing for the small ones and hand sculpting for the larger ones. At a 1:50 scale, it was unreasonable to sculpt six 3-5cm tall x 1-2cm wide statues, but for the larger, more bespoke statues, it was necessary to design and make them by hand out of air-dry clay
